Call me crazy, but I actually liked the ending. I get tired of seeing the good guys win in the alien movies, and I thoroughly enjoyed the little twist that seemed to piss so many people off. I want to see a sequel.

But where the flick shines is in sheer gee-whizzery. The aliens, in their various forms, and their ships (and all the crazy mayhem) are lovingly crafted for those who like a little disaster flick mixed in with their alien invasion stories. Once we get past the slightly rocky set-up the flick ramps up, takes off, and does all it can to keep your eyeballs dazzled for a good 45 minutes. The directors seem so excited to show you all their big ships and massive explosions and crazily narrow escapes it starts to feel like you're listening to a pair of hyperactive 12-year-olds mash every sci-fi flick they've ever seen into one mega-awesome combination platter. (The flick is also edited about as well as a kid's sugar-fueled monologue.)
